EYELASH EXTENSIONS FAQS

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are faux lashes or handmade volume fans applied to the top of your own natural eyelash, about 1 millimeter from the eyelid. The process involves isolating a single natural eyelashes and applying the faux lash to each, for a natural looking result. Eyelash extensions can only be applied to your own natural lashes, not your skin. Neither glue nor the faux lash makes contact with the skin.

How long does the eyelash extension process take?

A full set of lashes typically takes about 1-2 hours to apply.

How long will my eyelash extensions last?

Your eyelash extensions will stay on for anywhere from 2-6 weeks. The bond life depends on a number of factions, like proper after-care, proper preparation, and proper application. Due to the natural eyelash growth cycle, refills must be applied to fill in the gaps from the natural lashes that have fallen out.

What is a fill?

The refill or “fill” process involves one of our eyelash artists going through your lash extensions to remove grown out lash extensions and add new extensions in order to fill in the gaps from the natural lashes that have fallen out.

How long does a fill take?

Fills usually take about 1 hour, as they do not require as much effort as full eyelash extension application.

Do you fill in other lash artists’ work?

We unfortunately do not fill in other eyelash artists’ work at this time. First-time clients will need to book a full eyelash extension set.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

Nope! With proper application, maintenance and care, eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lash at all. One of the biggest myths surrounding lash extensions is that they’ll damage your own lashes, but they do not. If applied correctly by trained artists, they are completely safe and don’t affect the health of your natural lashes. You will want to avoid rubbing your eyes harshly, or tugging or pulling on the lash extensions, as this can cause lash loss and damage to your natural lashes.

Are eyelash extensions permanent?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent. Your natural lashes grow and shed at their own natural pace, which will require getting them filled every 2-4 weeks.

Do eyelash extensions fall out over a certain period of time?

Because each eyelash extension is attached to a single eyelash, they fall out naturally along with the growth cycle of each individual lash they’re attached to. We typically recommend a touch-up every 2-4 weeks, depending on your own natural lash growth cycle.

What can cause my eyelash extensions to fall out prematurely?

When an inexperienced professional applies lashes, she or he often applies one faux lash to a cluster of 3-4 natural lashes (rather than to individual lashes as should be done). This causes your natural lashes to clump together and ultimately break or fall out. Your lashes also might fall out if you pick at them or try to pull them out yourself, which is a big no-no. But if you avoid those two problems, your lashes should stay intact.

How can lash extensions be removed?

Our eyelash artists apply a special gel to the extensions, which is specifically made to safely weaken the bond of the glue. No damage is done to your natural lashes. One of the worst things you can do is try to remove the lash extensions on your own—this will result in the loss of your own natural lashes.

Does your glue contain formaldehyde?

Our glue does not contain formaldehyde.

What type of faux lashes do you use?

We use synthetic mink lashes for our eyelash extensions. Mink lashes are also available upon request at a higher cost.

Can people with straight eyelashes get eyelash extensions?

Yes! Our seasoned eyelash extension artists in Reno will help you custom-craft your eyelash extension experience, and we offer a number of different lash styles to suit your own, unique natural lash type.

Do I have to be a certain age to get eyelash extensions?

Parental consent is required for those under 18.

Do you offer bottom lash extensions?

Unfortunately, we are not currently offering bottom lash extensions.

Can I shower or swim right away? Are there products I should avoid?

You’ll want to keep water away from your lashes for the first 12-24 hours after the application process (or after a refill). Water can weaken the adhesive before it sets, which weakens the bond and can cause your eyelash extensions to fall off.

You’ll also want to avoid rubbing your eyes or picking at your eyelashes, as this can pull out both the eyelash extensions and your natural lashes.

Proper after-care can also vary depending on the type of glue your artist decides is best suited for your eyelash extensions. With glue for sensitive eyes, for example, oil-based products or makeup removers around the eye area should be avoided. For all types of glue, you’ll want to avoid using waterproof mascara on your extensions, as it is difficult to remove and the removal process can damage or pull off your eyelash extensions prematurely.
