Hayley Paige’s Wedding Day
As lovers of weddings and all-things sparkly, we fan-girl’ed pretty darn hard when renowned bridal gown designer Hayley Paige reached out to Team La Di Da to provide hair-and-makeup services for her big day. (Seriously, it took us a few days to catch our breath.) We were so honored she chose us to complete her bridal look, and being a part of the amazing team that brought her dream wedding to life was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Today I wanted to share with you some exclusive behind-the-scenes intel about Hayley Paige’s wedding day and the role team La Di Da played in executing her event vision. (Spoiler alert: There’s a blue unicorn and spiked Slurpees involved.)
Before the Big Day:
La Di Da Hair Artist Marie and I ran Hayley through a hair-and-makeup preview appointment, where we had the chance to meet her and talk through her vision. (We also had the chance to meet her adorable bulldogs, who were total cuties.) We especially loved looking through Hayley’s sketches, which we later got to see brought to life on the day-of. Being let in on her creative process was beyond a dream come true.
After our initial preview appointment, we communicated mainly via hundreds (that’s no exaggeration) of back-and-forth emails. Because her wedding involved two ceremonies and tons of moving parts, we had to coordinate schedules for eight of our artists and secure two getting-ready suites (we used one room for Hayley, her mom and her sister, and a separate conference room for her bridesmaids and closest friends). The constant communication leading up to the day-of was super helpful in ensuring everyone was on-track.
Hayley’s Skin Prep:
To prep for the big day, Hayley got dermaplaned, which made her skin an absolute dream! (You can check out our blog on dermaplaning here for more info on our all-time favorite hair-removal and facial-exfoliation technique.) We highly recommend that all of our brides undergo dermaplaning before their wedding day.
The only difficult part of her makeup application was battling the early signs of a sunburn shining through from her beach days leading up to the wedding (which is so true of many of our Tahoe brides, so don’t underestimate the power of a great sunscreen!).
Hayley’s Look & Key Beauty Products:
Hayley wanted a look that was princess, ethereal and oh-so magical at once. To achieve this, we went with long, flowing locks topped with a sparkling tiara for her hair aesthetic, and a natural, super-blended makeup aesthetic which included MAC’s pro performance HD airbrush foundation, understated eyeshadow, killer lashes and a soft pink hue on her lips. To create this equally sweet and stunning look for her Big Day, we had some serious help from some of our favorite products (all of which Hayley was so pleased with). These life-savers included:
A Halocouture extension piece—this was crucial for creating the lovely long-flowing-locks look she wanted (Note: want one of these for your big day? We can help!)
MAC’s Pro Performance HD Airbrush Foundation—this made all the difference in the photos! I loved this on her skin, especially once she was dermaplaned.
Three layers of lashes (yes, three!)
Behind the Scenes on The Big Day:
On the day of, we started hair and makeup at 7 a.m. in order to get everyone ready for the 11 a.m. church ceremony (the first of her two ceremonies). I followed Hayley there and was on-site for touch-ups the entire time. Both Bumble and Bumble and MAC cosmetics chose to sponsor gifts for Hayley and her bridesmaids for the big day, which was such a treat as well.
The morning itself was crazy busy, as Hayley had tons of photographers and videographers around (including the crew from Say Yes to the Dress…which was so cool.) After the ceremony, Hayley took family and bridal-party pics and then was whisked away to take couple’s photos with her new husband Danny. The camera crew and I went with them, and I performed touch-ups throughout the shoot.
Afterward, we all regrouped for a second round of hair and makeup with everyone together in the conference room. It ended up being a ton of fun, as Hayley loved being with her girls and they were able to take some playful Instagram pics. Then, we all headed out for the second ceremony on the Cottage Green Lawn at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. The second ceremony was much less formal and ended up feeling so magical and celebratory. In honor of the wedding date (7/11), guests were served spiked Slurpees. There was also a blue “unicorn” horse grazing in the background during the ceremony, and, as the ceremony concluded, they let off a pink smoke bomb, which made for the most amazing photos. Hayley then underwent a third dress change and celebrated the rest of the evening in the Lakefront ballroom, dancing the night away with her oh-so-sweet groom.
Overall, Hayley and Danny’s wedding was nothing short of a fairytale affair. We loved working our hair-and-makeup magic at such a once-in-a-lifetime event. We could not be more honored that a wedding visionary like Hayley Paige would entrust Team La Di Da with executing her stunning event vision.
Cheers to a lifetime full of blue unicorns, pink smoke bombs and dreamy dresses!
